Elon Musk has reactivated Donald Trump’s Twitter account after he asked users if the former US President should be permitted to return to the platform – fulfilling his promise not to unban accounts before setting up a “moderation council”.

The move reverses a ban that kept Trump off Twitter since a pro-Trump carried out an attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 when Congress wanted to certify Joe Biden’s victory.
Musk made the announcement recently after conducting a poll that asked Twitter users to click “yes” or “no” on whether Trump’s account should be restored.
The “yes” vote won, with 51.8 percent of the total 15 million votes.

After the poll ended, Musk tweeted: “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”
Trump’s account has since been reactivated but it remains unclear whether Trump will return, as he has spent millions of dollars on his right-wing Twitter rival, Truth Social. Also, he has stated in the past that he would not rejoin Twitter even if his account was restored.
