Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call on Wednesday, April 30, with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, during which he extended an invitation for Carney to visit Ukraine.
During the conversation, Zelenskyy congratulated Carney on his Liberal Party’s recent victory in the early parliamentary elections. The two leaders also discussed cooperation within the G7, which Canada currently chairs.

“We discussed the importance of maintaining strong sanctions against Russia and agreed on the need to uphold pressure on the aggressor,” Zelenskyy stated. “We also addressed Ukraine’s air defence, diplomatic efforts, and coordination with key international partners.”
Zelenskyy confirmed that he had formally invited Prime Minister Carney to visit Kyiv, emphasizing the significance of Canada’s ongoing support.
“I am confident that Canada’s leadership in upholding international law will remain steadfast,” he concluded.
