Wagner College, a private school in New York borough of Staten Island has revoked an honorary degree awarded to President Donald Trump. This came after Pennsylvania’s Lehigh University revoked same degree awarded to Trump in 1988.
Cabinet secretaries and various institutions have stopped backing Trump after his supporters destroyed the Capitol and created chaos during the recent Congress certification of the Electoral College count.
According to a statement issued by Lehigh University, the committee of Lehigh’s board of trustees voted to revoke the degree followed by the full board.
On the other hand, Wagner’s trustees met in an extraordinary session to deliberate on the honorary degree given to Trump in 2004 and voted to revoke it. A statement issued by the school read: “The Wagner College Board of Trustees met in a special session to review the honorary degree granted to Donald J. Trump in 2004. Today, the board voted to rescind that degree.”
Trump delivered a speech during the graduation of the school that year, and went to the graduation ceremony with First Lady Melania Trump who happened to be his fiancee at that time.
