Vietnam’s National Assembly will soon hold an extraordinary meeting to confirm the appointment of Vo Van Thuong as the country’s new president. This came after the mid-term resignation of Nguyen Xuan Phuc in February.
Officials and diplomats that are familiar with the matter have reported that the National Assembly of Vietnam will hold an extraordinary meeting to confirm the appointment of the new president.
52-year-old Vo Van Thuong will assume the position of President. The appointment came after the mid-term resignation of Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The session is expected to finalize the appointment of Vo Van Thuong who is currently the youngest member of the Politburo, the highest decision-making body of Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
