Nike Onile, a first-generation Nigerian Canadian and founder of Ode Studio, has died. She sadly passed away after a protracted battle with cancer.
She was a talented individual with diverse background. Nike studied biotechnology and started a career in healthcare but her passion for the world of art and design coupled with her innate creativity and eye for aesthetics made her delve into the field of interior design, where she discovered her true calling.
Nike launched Ode Studio, a design firm specializing in residential and commercial projects across Canada. The studio became popular for its unique and innovative designs, capturing the essence and personality of every client. Her work reflected her ability to combine functionality with beauty, delivering spaces that were practical and visually stunning.
Apart from her work at Ode Studio, Nike Onile also shared her design experiences as a Design Expert on CityTV/City Line. During her appearances, she provided valuable insights and influenced many individuals with her knowledge and expertise. Her contributions to the design industry were highly regarded, and she became a highly respected figure in the field.
A GoFundMe account that was created for her during her battle still exists. The account was created by Danielle Nicholas Bryk, Samantha Pynn and Shereen Ashman to raise funds for her then but now that she has passed, the account aims to raise funds to support her family during this difficult time.
The statement on the GoFundMe page read:
“Dear friends and family,
Beautiful Nike Onile has passed.
A joyful and brilliant light in our lives, we are devastated by the loss of our strong, talented, and loving friend.
Thank you to everyone in Nike’s community for reaching out with your words of love and support.
Donations to support Nike’s family with final expenses are welcome and deeply appreciated.
At a later date, we will be raising funds for a scholarship in Nike’s name.
“I have no words to properly express my gratitude for all of you for your love and continued support. You have taught me so much about trust and community, I am often left speechless by your unintentional lessons”. -Nike
With deep sadness and sorrow, we thank you.
Danielle, Shereen, and Sam.”
