Toronto has reported an increase in mpox cases and health officials have urged eligible residents to get vaccinated to curb the spread.
In a news release issued recently, Toronto Public Health (TPH) stated that it has witnessed 93 confirmed cases as of July 31. The city’s case count was 21 on July 31, 2023.
The latest numbers show that there were 13 new cases confirmed in Toronto in the last two weeks of July.

According to TPH, cases of mpox have been reported across the city, however, a higher concentration of infections has been discovered among residents in the downtown core.
In their advisory, TPH said: “In response to this spike in reported cases, TPH is working with community partners to increase awareness of the risk of getting mpox, improve access to vaccination and vaccinate eligible residents.”
