Ontario wants to make COVID-19 vaccine certificate QR codes available for download in the next three days, starting with those born between January and April.
A recent update on the website of Ontario Health reveals that the motive of the three-day rollout is to ensure a “smooth user experience.”
As of 6 a.m. ET today, fully vaccinated Ontarians who were born between January and April were able to download their QR code.
The next stages of the initial rollout include:
May to August: October 16
September to December: October 17
According to the website, from 6 a.m. on October 18, enhanced vaccine certificates will be readily available for every fully vaccinated Ontarian to download.
Approximately 83.2 percent of eligible Ontarians have had two doses of vaccine.
The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott will reveal additional details about the QR code certificate system during a news conference at 11 a.m.
Ontario’s vaccine verification app for businesses, Verify Ontario, went live online yesterday on the Google and Apple app stores.
According to the app’s description, the app offers businesses and organizations the means to scan the QR codes on provincially issued digital vaccine certificates.
After scanning the code, a green checkmark will pop up specifying a valid vaccine certificate, a red X will pop up if the certificate is invalid and a yellow warning will appear for a QR that cannot be read.
