Newly promoted English Premier League club, Nottingham Forest, are closing in on the club-record signing that will secure the transfer of Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi back to the club.
Awoniyi plays for Union Berlin in the Bundesliga and is ready to move to the Premier League in a deal which will cost Forest around £17.5million.
The 24-year-old striker joined Liverpool in 2015 and was on loan at six different clubs without having any breakthrough at Anfield. He scored 15 goals to help Union Berlin achieve above their target in the Bundesliga last season.
Reports have also emerged that Liverpool are entitled to a percentage of any transfer fee, as part of his transfer to Union for nearly £6m last summer.
Awoniyi was part of the Nigerian squad that crashed out at the second round stage of the AFCON which took place earlier this year in Cameroon. The 2013 U-17 World Cup winner is expected help to Steve Cooper’s side avoid an immediate relegation to the Championship when he completes the transfer.
