Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has congratulated Super Eagles players despite the failure of the team to win the title at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
While congratulating the players, Shettima said their names will be written in gold.
Shettima, who was present at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan to support the Eagles, said the players will be rewarded for their effort in the game.

In the video posted on Shettima’s Facebook page recently, he said: “Indeed there is a cause for celebration because we are the second-best footballing nation in Africa.”
He wrote: “Yesterday after the AFCON final match, I met with the Super Eagles players and officials to congratulate and commend their efforts for an impressive performance at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations
“I spoke with the players and officials in the dressing room shortly after the match, and I told them that regardless of the outcome, the nation was proud of their efforts and contributions.
“The team has no cause to be sad, they have every cause to celebrate. The nation is proud of them.”
