Toronto paramedics have disclosed that a man in his 60s has been stabbed to death in Rexdale.
The incident happened in the area of Rexdale Boulevard and Bergamot Avenue. After the incident, paramedics arrived the venue and discovered the man showed no vital signs.
Toronto police revealed in a tweet that the man was stabbed in the neck and later died on scene.
In a statement issued on social media recently, the International Muslim Organization of Toronto revealed thst the victim is one of their members and that the incident occurred near the mosque.
The organization made it known it was “deeply saddened and shocked” to hear about the “tragic incident.”
The statement read: “There are no words for what happened to the member of this congregation.
“We further encourage our community not to speculate on what happened as the investigation is ongoing. Instead, we ask that you keep our brother and his family in your prayers.”
The homicide unit has since taken over the investigation.
According to the police, the suspect, a slim man who wore a black hoodie and dark pants was seen while fleeing the scene on foot.
