Audrey Parkes, is a proud descendant of Black Kings, Queens and Slaves. She is a community activist who is passionate about bringing economic growth and development for the black community.
Audrey completed her BA from York University in Sociology with a focus on Indigenous and Black studies. Throughout her studies she recognized just how much social and economic injustice is prevalent in the Black and Indigenous communities.
Audrey has always been a strong advocate for social justice. She recognizes the value of giving back through volunteering, pushing for change, encouraging unity and community development within the Black Community. Her volunteer work led her to become the first female Chair of the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC).

For the last 28 years Audrey worked as a social justice advocate. She is dedicated and passionate about helping black women grow and raise their voices. Audrey believes that with the right support system any woman can improve their lives and meet their full potential.
Audrey is the Founder of AFIWI Foundation, an organization that works support middle school aged children in Jamaica done through fundraising. Audrey is also the co-founder with her daughter of ROOT’D Natural Health Beauty & Wellness – A natural health and wellness store for the mind, body and spirit.
Audrey uses this inspiration quote by her favourite author James Baldwin: “”not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced”, which helps to guide her through her daily choices.
Audrey’s pet peeve are prejudice and bias.
In her leisure time, Audrey loves gardening and reading non-fiction.
She has been selected as a recipient of Community Service 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at Remarkable Mothers Award at the RMA Gala 2023!
