The Premier of Quebec, Francois Legault, has proposed the imposition of tax for every adult that refuses to take the COVID-19 vaccine for non-medical reasons.
On his Facebook page, Legault said: “despite the fact that unvaccinated adults make up 10 per cent of the population, they account for half of the COVID-19 hospitalisations in intensive care units.

“This is an immense pressure on our health care system. Therefore, we are considering the issue of imposing health tax that will be paid by all adults who refuse vaccination for non-medical reasons.’’
Legault added that the amount of the penalty hasn’t been determined, but stressed that it would be “significant.”
On December 31, 2021, Quebec imposed night curfew over an increase in COVID-19 infections from 10 p. m. to 5 a. m. and stricter restrictions on public gatherings and businesses.
