Chinyere Emmanuel Igwe, a former member of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Presidential candidate was nabbed with $500,000 in cash less than a day before the election.
Igwe was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning along Aba road in Port Harcourt.

He was found to be in possession of a staggering sum of Five Hundred Thousand US Dollars ($500,000.00), which he reportedly said was given to him by Abubakar Atiku, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, in a bid to ensure his electoral success in Rivers State.
The timing of Igwe’s arrest could not have been more alarming, as it happened less than 24 hours before the general election. Also, the police made a shocking discovery during the arrest, as they saw a sharing formula document in Igwe’s possession. This document outlined a plan to share the dollars among security and INEC officials.
