According to reports, Chizoba Favour Eze, a Nigerian inmate at Kaliti Prison in Addis Ababa, has died from injuries inflicted by Ethiopian police officers.
Kaliti Prison, a maximum security prison, has been accused of human rights abuses, and over 300 Nigerians that are currently held there have complained about no access to basic necessities, corporal and capital punishment, and overcrowding.
Eze’s corpse was allegedly left in her cell for more than 36 hours, and other inmates were not permitted to inform the Nigerian embassy about the incident.

According to reports, she was beaten brutally on her breasts, which caused internal injuries. Also, Brazilian and Venezuelan women were allegedly brutalized by the same police officers.
The Nigerian inmates have appealed to Federal government of Nigeria for assistance, with some requesting transfer to Nigerian prisons.
