The government of President Bola Tinubu has once again invited the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for another meeting over its planned indefinite strike.
This development was announced by Labour Minister Simon Lalong in a statement.
Recall that on September 4, Lalong invited the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for a meeting to halt the earlier two-day nationwide warning strike but the TUC only showed up for the meeting.
Lalong revealed he had directed the Department of Trade Unions Services and Industrial Relations to convene the meeting with the leadership of the NLC.
He said it was paramount for the unions to meet with the government to resolve every pending matter to forestall further economic disruption.
He said: “The administration of President Bola Tinubu will always engage the organised labour and respond to its concerns after due consultation and negotiations. This is in order to guarantee industrial harmony, which is critical to the attainment of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
