The Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has urged the National Assembly to embrace electronic voting in the interest of Nigerians in Diaspora.
The NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made the urge during this year’s National Diaspora Day celebration streamed via Zoom.
While making the call, she said: “We are only asking for one thing: make it possible for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be able to conduct Diaspora voting when INEC feels that the infrastructure is ready.”

She appealed to the National Assembly to consider the over 17 million Diaspora Nigerians as the country wants to amend the Electoral Act 2010.
She said: “We are optimistic that we will achieve Diaspora voting. I hope history will be made under the 9th National Assembly.”
