New Zealand is about to join a growing list of countries to ban Chinese-owned streaming app, TikTok, from lawmakers’ devices over security concerns.
The ban will take effect from March 31 and will apply to all devices with access to the parliamentary network.
While talking about the ban, Parliamentary Service chief executive, Rafael Gonzalez-Montero, stated that the risks posed by TikTok were “not acceptable in the current New Zealand Parliamentary environment.”

New Zealand has joined other countries like Canada, Britain, the United States, and the European Commission in banning TikTok from government-issued devices over fears that data could be viewed by officials in China.
