Eric Chelle, the newly appointed Super Eagles coach, has stated that his top priority is to secure Nigeria’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Canadian Newspaper, following the Africa Cup of Nations draw, Chelle emphasized his focus on winning the remaining World Cup qualifying matches.

“My main force now is to qualify for the World Cup,” Chelle said. “I am thinking about how the Super Eagles can win all their remaining World Cup matches.”
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Rwanda in Kigali on March 17th and Zimbabwe in Nigeria on March 24th. With 4 points, Nigeria currently occupies 5th place in Group C.
To ensure qualification for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the US, and Mexico, Chelle acknowledged that winning all remaining matches is crucial.
“We must win our two matches in March to stay in contention,” he stressed. “I am confident that with determination and hard work, we can achieve our goal.”
