The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Ahmed, has disclosed that no fewer than 160 women who claimed to be Nigerians in Sudan do not have passports to facilitate their return to Nigeria.
Ahmed stated this during a recent media briefing in Abuja. He said the women’s lack of Nigerian passports has made it hard for the agency to verify their citizenship claims.
Ahmed stated that NEMA was being careful not to airlift non-Nigerians from the war-torn North African country.
He said the womens’ claim that their great-grandparents up to the fifth generation were Nigerians while they were born and bred in Sudan has not been unverified.
