Molson Coors has announced it is ending its formal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, opting for what it calls a “broader view” to ensure all employees feel welcome. In an internal memo shared with The Canadian Press, the brewing company stated it has completed its DEI training and will no longer set specific representation goals in hiring.
Additionally, Molson Coors will no longer participate in the Human Rights Campaign’s ranking program, which scores companies on workplace inclusivity for the LGBTQ+ community. Molson Coors previously held a perfect score from the advocacy group but will now rely on internal metrics and employee feedback to cultivate an inclusive environment.
This policy shift comes as some U.S. companies face backlash for supporting LGBTQ+ communities and DEI initiatives. The Human Rights Campaign acknowledged that certain businesses are moving away from their previous commitments to inclusion.
