Manitoba’s Minister of Labour and Immigration, Jon Reyes, has revealed that Manitoba is interested in hiring more skilled health professionals from the Philippines.
This will be carried out under a new program that aims to financially support Filipino nurses. Also, it will include the provision of airfare, accommodation, and training.

Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers Secretary, Susan “Toots” Ople, and Reyes agreed on fostering labor cooperation between the Philippines and Manitoba.
Canadian provinces with majority of Filipinos are Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba while Toronto remains the Canadian metropolitan area with the highest number of Filipinos, followed by Vancouver and Winnipeg.
However, Ople admired Canadian government‘s hospitality, firm commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of Filipino migrant workers, and recognizing the professionalism of Filipino nurses.
