Manchester City have secured the 2023/24 Premier League title, making history as the first men’s team in English football to win four consecutive top-flight titles. Their 3-1 victory over West Ham United on the final day of the season, with goals from Phil Foden (2) and Rodrigo, ensured they finished two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
The triumph marks City’s tenth top-flight league title and their sixth Premier League win in seven seasons under manager Pep Guardiola. Captain Kyle Walker will lift the trophy at the Etihad Stadium in front of a sell-out crowd, with club legend Paul Dickov and City in the Community participant Michael Crowther presenting the trophy to the England full-back.
City’s latest Premier League title is their third trophy of the 2023/24 season, following victories in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. They now have the chance to achieve another historic feat by becoming the first team to win back-to-back Premier League and FA Cup Doubles when they face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 25.
Reflecting on the achievement, Walker expressed his pride: “The last few years have been very special for everyone at Manchester City, but to have captained this Club to a fourth straight Premier League title is something I will cherish forever. The Premier League is the benchmark by which everyone is measured. To win four in a row, especially after last season’s Treble success, illustrates what we have collectively managed to achieve.”
Walker also credited Guardiola, the backroom staff, his teammates, and the club’s employees for their roles in the club’s success. He extended special thanks to the Manchester City fans for their unwavering support.
This season, Guardiola’s squad won 28 of their 38 league matches, scored 95 goals, and amassed 91 points, remaining unbeaten at home throughout the campaign. City’s 91 points mean they have now finished with 90+ points on four occasions, more than any other Premier League team.
The latest title adds to the impressive list of achievements under Guardiola, including six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, and two Community Shields.
Individually, Erling Haaland secured the Premier League Golden Boot for the second consecutive season with 27 goals. Phil Foden was named Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, while Rodrigo celebrated his 50th Premier League game unbeaten.
