Lionel Messi come out to say that he was unhappy during the summer. He revealed that his form at the beginning of the season was affected by the drama that surrounded his attempted exit from Barcelona.
It should be recalled that the 33-year-old forward handed in a transfer request this summer after spending almost two decades at the club by sending a document through burofax [a form of recorded delivery offered by Spain’s postal service].
After days negotiations over the issue, Messi decided to stay, with Barcelona and La Liga’s insistence that the forward’s €700m release clause must be paid in full to activate a move.

Messi said: “What happened before the summer, what with how the season ended, the burofax and all the rest of it. I ended up carrying that over a bit into the start of this season.”
Barcelona were hit by another off-field issues when Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned as the President of the club in October after he was heavy criticised about the way he handled Messi’s attempt to leave.
Messi has now made it known that he felt tired of being blamed for any problem at Barcelona but he is feeling positive again.
He said: “I’m feeling good at the moment. I’m raring to really fight for everything that lies ahead.
“I’m excited. I know that the club is having a tough time of things, both on and off the field, and everything related to Barcelona is a bit tricky right now, but I’m feeling hungry.”
