The Nigerian Iconic filmmaker and Actor Kunle Afolayan stated in an interview with Chude Jideonwo that his late father Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love) never wanted him or his siblings to act and that he is not in support of his career because it wasn’t lucrative.
He remembered his late father used to say
‘Do you want to be running around like I’m running around?’
Indicative of the busy lifestyle actors have, constantly travelling around locations.
The 48-year-old actor added that his father died at 56 years and according to him his father didn’t reap the fruit of his labor, he died without being rewarded for his work, but he was proud.
Kunle explained that they are enjoying continuity in Nollywood today because of what his father has done.
‘But I think he had to die for some of us to be doing what we are doing today. When people die, it is because their time is up. The reason there is continuity is that his name is being heard everywhere because of what we are doing now’
He said he only did something differently like ‘grading’ and improving audio work to make a difference as a successful filmmaker.
