According to the US Department of States document, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the Judge that delivered the Supreme Court’s verdict in the disputed Imo governorship election of January 14, 2020, has been denied a visa to the United States.
It should be recalled that a seven-man panel of the Supreme Court led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Muhammad Tanko, nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
In the letter rejecting Justice Kekere-Ekun’s visa application, the United States government cited “sanctioned activities” as the reason for the denial.
Also, former Cross River Governor, Donald Duke, revealed recently that the US authorities had denied visa applications from many judges who wanted to attend a Judges Conference in the United States.
