Japan has reported 12,014 new coronavirus cases, against 7,751 reported on Monday. Tokyo reported 989 new cases, against 654 reported on Monday.
According to health officials, the number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms nationwide was 124.

The number of COVID-related deaths reported in the country was 35.
Under the country’s new guidelines, passengers will only be recommended to wear face masks on trains and buses during rush hour or other occasions when public transport is congested, while students will not be required to wear them during school activities.
