Israel’s parliament have ended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year rule after they voted in favor of a new coalition government.
The former ally of Netanyahu, Naftali Bennett, has become the new Prime Minister of Israel.
The voting which took place recently ended 60-59 and marked the beginning of a new era for Israel, a country that had conducted four elections in two years.
As expected, Bennett will preside over a diverse and fragile coalition that comprised eight parties with very deep ideological differences.
Netanyahu still remains the head of Likud party and will now hold the post of opposition leader.
While addressing the parliament ahead of the vote, Bennett talked extensively on domestic issues.
However, he rejected the efforts of United States to revive Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.
