Many international flights at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) have been grounded as members of staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) commenced a strike action over salary increment.
A lot of travellers came to the airport this morning and were surprised when the airport staff told them they would not be working as they have started a strike action.
NAHCO handles all things that relate to check-in, boarding and ramp services for many international airlines like Air France/KLM, Qatar, Ethiopian Airlines, Delta Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Turkish Air.
The striking staff met with their management recently but the meeting yielded no tangible results, as such, they proceeded with the strike.
The Ministry of Aviation has not commented on this development.
