Indian students in Ukraine who recently fled the embattled country with other immigrants have revealed they were treated worse than Nigerians at border crossing.
There have been reports of racial treatment of Africans fleeing Ukraine recently with the government of Ukraine acknowledging the development later and promising change.

Students who returned home to the Indian state of Odisha revealed they had to walk miles in below zero temperatures while waiving the Indian flag and being heckled by Ukrainian soldiers before they crossed the border to safety.
According to one of the students, they lived in a bunker for three days before they exited it.
Another student said: “The Ukrainian soldiers were cordial to Nigerians and others but were harsh on Indians. I was heckled by them before crossing the international border to enter Romania. We walked 12 km in minus six degrees Celsius, which was really painful.”
A lot of Indian students are still trapped in Ukraine.
