Westinghouse branded Current Taps with Surge Protector have been recalled by Health Canada over the possibility of electric short development when connected to an outlet with a two-line feed.
The device is a fire hazard and has a risk of electrical shock, with Health Canada disclosing it is likely dangerous. At least, one incident involving the product has been reported in Canada, with no injuries recorded.
The affected products are models: DR-W01AN, DR-W01AS, DR-W02AS, T28048, CS02879, 33208, 56208, 93208 and 93110.
Health Canada said: “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable local transportation and waste requirements for electronic products.”
Recently, the Ontario Fire Marshal issued a warning about the recall and told the public to immediately stop using the devices and get rid of them.
According to the company’s report, 25,660 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and they were sold between November 2017 and October 2020.
