The Executive Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has issued an arrest warrant for his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole.
Obaseki asserted that Oshiomhole mobilized thugs to vandalise banks and disrupt state peace under the guise of protesting the inadequacy of the new naira.
The order was issued by Obaseki through Chris Nehikhare, Edo state’s commissioner for communication and orientation, recently.

Nehikare said: “We spent the entire day in the city, speaking with protesters and conducting investigations. We discovered that there is more to it than meets the eye.
“At this time, we would like to request that security agencies question Adams Oshiomhole. He should be arrested and questioned about his movements over the past few days, particularly in Benin City.
“Oshiomhole intentionally incited the people’s protest. I know that people will assume that the protest is due to a lack of naira notes, but even if that is the case, Nigerians should know which political party is involved, because it is ironic that the political party responsible for this policy is also sending people to destroy PDP billboards.”
