Nigeria’s Flying Eagles came from a goal down to defeat the Dominican Republic 2-1 in their recent Group D opening match of the U-20 World Cup match.
Edison Azcona’s converted penalty gave Dominican Republic the lead in the 23rd minute but the Flying Eagles equalized and the first half ended 1-1.
Samson Lawal scored the winning goal in the 70th minute to give Nigeria the needed victory and a perfect start to the competition.
They will play Italy in their second group match on May 24 before they face Brazil in the Group’s final game.
