The European Union (EU) has announced that it is mobilizing €6.5m for investment in Niger Delta communities “to transform criminality and violence in the Niger Delta into opportunities.”
This announcement was made by EU’s Head, Cooperation, Ruben Alba Aguilera, recently in Abuja when he led a delegation to the Minister of Niger Delta, Abubakar Momoh.
While making the announcement, Aguilera said: “We’ve been investing in the region for a long time. We’re very much encouraged by the plans, vision and the leadership that the Ministry and the new government is putting in place.”
While responding, Momoh said the government had a lot of projects and programmes ongoing in the Niger Delta to tackle restiveness there.
