It was a heroic event on October 21st, 2022 at the Metro Hall, Toronto when Marian Balogun launched her new book, “The different faces of Narcissism: How to recognize, neutralize, and protect yourself from toxic people disguised as friends: An empath’s perspective Paperback”.
The book drew applauses and recommendations from dignitaries and intellectuals from all walks of life who were in attendance during the launching. This is even as some wondered how Balogun was able to perfectly chronicle her thoughts and research in such well-versed pages.
Marian unmasked the different faces of narcissism – how to recognize the features, counter the tactics, and protect yourself from toxic people disguised as friends; and with some relatable examples.
Different faces of narcissism author Marian Balogun says; “Victims often feel powerless by not really knowing why they are being persecuted. By recognizing your oppressor’s narcissistic traits early on, you can avoid falling into their trap. When you know what red flags are in front of you, you can avoid getting entangled by them.”

Common questions addressed in the book include:
· Does your partner or friend make you doubt your own perception of reality?
· Are they engaging in sneaky gaslighting tactics that you find difficult to recognize as red flags?
· Would you like to avoid narcissists by identifying their traits early on?
· Are your vulnerabilities being exploited by loved ones?
· Did you get caught off-guard by a narcissist and have no idea what was going on?
· Are you in need of recovery after abuse by a narcissist?
In writing this book, Marian hopes to help readers learn from her mistakes. She believes that if you recognize narcissistic traits early, you can avoid falling into their trap. When you know what red flags are in front of you, you can avoid getting entangled by them.
Marian’s empathy drives her to support people in any way she can, whether on a professional or personal level. In an effort to help others and not let the horrifying ordeal she endured deter her, she has written this book to share her experience.
Svetlana Ratnikova, Founder and CEO – Immigrant Women in Business, has high praise for the author and the book. “Marian is a very in-touch and charismatic leader, this self-help book incorporates her experience of narcissistic abuse and her road to recovery. The book contains a range of practical tools and tips on how to deal with a narcissist, aiming to keep you safe and sane and the one in control. I recommend this book to anyone that has been victimized by a narcissist; it is time to start healing”.
