Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice, have been found guilty of organ trafficking in the United Kingdom.
Ekweremadu, his wife, his daughter, and a medical doctor, Dr Obinna Obeta, were found guilty of arranging the travel of a young man to the UK with a view to exploiting him after a six-week trial at the Old Bailey.

The jury found that they criminally conspired to bring the 21-year-old Lagos street trader to London to use his kidney.
The sentence will be passed by the Judge, Justice Jeremy Johnson, at a later date.
