Edmonton property taxes could increase by seven percent in 2024 if the city council passes the suggested budget later this fall.
Accepting city staff’s draft 2024 budget which was recently released would make Edmontonians’ taxes increase by 2.13 percent higher than the 4.96 percent hike the council set last December with around five percent increase set each year from 2023-2026.
Salary settlements are the reasons behind the bulk of the expected increases, according to city staff.
There’s also a reduction of around $5.1 million in revenues for public transit.
