The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, will unveil a new cabinet soon after meeting with his ministers earlier at Queen’s Park.
According to the premier’s office, Ford and Lieutenant Governor Edith Dumont would “swear in a renewed Cabinet” in a closed ceremony.
The Ontario legislature rose a week early today, with MPPs ordered back to their ridings for an extended summer break. Meanwhile, cabinet ministers were told to clear their schedules and do not go far.
Ford had a one-on-one meeting with ministers through the afternoon in a room near his office inside the Ontario legislature and told reporters to expect to “be busy this afternoon.”
Reports have it that major changes could be announced in the cabinet reshuffle as Ford changes his front bench. Among those present in the meeting with Ford were Education Minister Stephen Lecce and Long-Term Care Minister Stan Cho.
Reports also have it that changes should be expected regarding current Housing Minister Paul Calandra.
