Donald Trump, former US President, has revealed he is “supposed to be dead” after the recent assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania.
In one of his first interviews after the incident, Trump told conservative US media he felt that he was saved “by luck or by God”.
He said: “The most incredible thing was that I happened to not only turn [my head] but to turn at the exact right time and in just the right amount.”
While adding that the bullet which grazed his ear could have easily killed him, he said: “I’m supposed to be dead, I’m not supposed to be here.”
A spectator was murdered in the attack, while two other people were severely injured. The gunman, who also died, has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Trump talked about the moment he looked up at the crowd after he realized he had been shot.
While talking to the Washington Examiner, he said: “The energy coming from the people there in that moment, they just stood there. It’s hard to describe what that felt like, but I knew the world was looking.

“I knew that history would judge this, and I knew I had to let them know we are okay.”
He spoke as he prepared to board a flight to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he will be confirmed as the party’s candidate for president and said he now had a “chance to bring the country together”.
According to the former President, his speech would now be entirely different from the “humdinger” aimed mostly at Joe Biden’s policies he had earlier planned.
He said: “Had [Saturday’s attack] not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches.
“Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now. It is a chance to bring the country together.”
