A Nigerian, Dapo Bankole, has joined the league of those making Nigeria proud abroad as he was recently appointed as a member of the board of directors of Canada’s Windmill Microlending.
While announcing his appointment, the organisation said having Bankole on board is a “historic moment”.
The organisation, a registered charity that has been serving newcomers since 2005 added that it anticipates a greater result-oriented future with the Nigerian at the helms of affairs.
While welcoming him, the organisation said: “Windmill is thrilled to welcome Dapo Bankole, Founder and President of Mopheth Systems Corp., to our Board of Directors. It’s a historic moment for our organization to be adding our first alumnus as a director.
“Dapo was a 2013 client of Windmill, and our Board and leadership will be stronger as a result. As a first-generation immigrant and a Windmill alumnus, Dapo brings a deeper perspective of who a first-generation Canadian is and what the integration journey looks like.
“He will also enhance our Board with his IT expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and communication skills as a social innovator, active podcaster, certified coach, speaker, and trainer.”
A look at Dapo’s biography reveals that he has built many small businesses in Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and the Netherlands.
