Colonel Amanda, who is the current Chief, Public Affairs and Spokesman for the U.S. Southern Command has been rewarded for her exceptional strength in the discharge of her duties.

She once served as a Public Affairs professional with over 15 years of experience leading strategic communications planning and execution, crisis communication, media relations, internal and external stakeholder relations, and international affairs.
She is currently the Communications Director and principal public affairs advisor for an organization that watches over military operations in twenty-eight countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
Under her new position, she supports the Commander’s communications objectives and public outreach efforts through traditional and social media by preparing and conducting media engagements, communications strategies for the command’s present and future operations.
She is also responsible for planning, developing, monitoring and executing public affairs outreach and communication programs to build and maintain public trust and support for U.S. Southern Command.
Furthermore, she collaborates and synchronizes with communicators at every level of DoD, the interagency and U.S. embassies in the region.
Lastly, she guides subordinate commands and maintains oversight of public affairs manning, training and logistics.
