The government of China has announced a nationwide easing of Covid restrictions after protests against the hardline strategy that degenerated into calls for higher political freedoms.
Under the new guidelines issued recently, some asymptomatic and mild cases of Covid-19 can now quarantine at home, putting an end to the requirement that every positive case should isolate in centralized government facilities.
Also, the National Health Commission (NHC) said that the frequency and scope of PCR testing will be reduced.

Compulsory mass testing will be restricted to “high-risk” areas and schools.
Furthermore, those travelling between provinces will no longer require a negative test carried out within 48 hours and they will not be subject to test upon arrival.
The announcement came after protests against the ruling Communist Party’s tough zero-Covid strategy across the country.
