Recently, the President of George Brown College, Dr Gervan Fearon attended the event organized by Afroglobal Television in partnership with the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario, The Painters’ Union, The Plumbers’ Union and other partners.
The event honoured the No. 2 Construction Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, that featured Black Canadians in the military of Canada during the First World War.

During the event, a scholarship endowment of $100,000 was made to George Brown College to support youth that are pursuing training certification, diploma or degree studies in the construction industry or labour studies. It was spearheaded by Chris Campbell of the Carpenter’s Union.
