Mark Carney has emerged as Canada’s Liberal Party leader, succeeding Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister.
Carney, who once served as the Governor of Canada’s central bank, will suceed Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister at a time the country is battling trade and immigration disputes with the United States.
According to Voice Of America, Carney, 59, hit out at President Donald Trump and said: “The US wants our resources, water, land and our country. Trump has attacked Canadian families, workers and businesses. We cannot let him succeed.”
At a recent event, outgoing Prime Minister Trudeau declared that the people of Canada were egoing through a survival struggle from neighbouring America.

Carney’s appointment came at a time a general election is scheduled to take place by October this year, but he can call it earlier.
He promised to win the trade war against Trump, who has implemented tariffs on Canada.. He said: “Americans should make no mistake. In trade, as in hockey, Canada will win.”
As reported by The BBC, Carney won 85.9% of the vote to beat his nearest rival, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland.
