Ngozi Ugoh, the Publisher of Nigerian Canadian Newspaper, has been honoured by the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, as he presented her the prestigious Social Impact Award during this year’s Mayors Making Black History Awards.
The Social Impact Award recognizes Black volunteer who has demonstrated all-round community involvement, inspires unity and builds Brampton’s diverse mosaic.

The Award was bestowed to her in recognition of the contributions of his media platform, Nigerian Canadian Newspaper. It was announced to the public on February 1, 2023 during the Black History Month Kickoff at Brampton City Hall, Brampton, Ontario.
After receiving the award, Lolo Ngozi Ugoh thanked the Mayor for the honour and those that came to support her.
She said: “I am honoured and extremely humbled to receive the 2023 Mayors Making Black History Award today for the contributions of Nigerian Canadian Newspaper to the service of humanity.
“This award recognizes Black volunteer who has demonstrated all-round community involvement, inspires unity and builds Brampton’s diverse mosaic.
“I thank the Mayor of Brampton for this recognition and honour and I appreciate the efforts of all those that believe in me and continue to walk with me on this journey. Big thank you to those that came out tonight especially from our community to celebrate with me and congratulations to other outstanding recipients.”
