Baloch activist, Karima Baloch who absconded from Pakistan in 2016 to seek refuge in Canada has been found dead at Harbourfront.

According to information gathered, the police saw her body drowned off an island near Toronto’s lakeshore.

Karima’s husband, Hammal Haider, and her brother have identified her corpse which is still with the police.

While speaking about the sad occurrence, Toronto senior journalist Tarek Fatah said: “Toronto Police and Canadian security agency CSIS must investigate the possibility of Pakistan’s hand in Karima’s death. Prime Minister Trudeau must act to rid Canada of Pakistan ISI agents.”

She escaped from Balochistan with the help of a few friends and Baloch activists which include Tarek Fatah when her life was in danger in 2016.

Before her death, she was a harsh critic of former Pakistan Army officers settling down in Canada and she was a thorn in the flesh of ISI operatives in Canada.

The Baloch National Movement has declared forty days of mourning for Karima Baloch. While declaring the mourning period, the spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement said that the martyrdom of Karima Baloch was a great loss to the Baloch nation and the national movement.

The spokesperson said: “With the death of Banuk Karima, we have lost a visionary leader and a national symbol. Compensation for this great loss is impossible for centuries.

“The Baloch National Movement has declared 40 days of mourning for the sudden death of its leader and former chairperson of BSO Azad and National Leader Banuk Karima Baloch, and all zones are directed to suspend other activities for 40 days.”
