Defense Minister, Anita Anand, has disclosed that Canada will send eight Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Anand made the disclosure on her official Twitter page. She tweeted: “More Leopard 2 main battle tanks. From Canada to Ukraine. #StandWithUkraine”
She made the disclosure shortly after Canada promised to provide over 1,800 rounds of training ammunition to Ukraine for Leopard 1 battle tanks supplied by Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Also, Anand stated that an armoured recovery vehicle, support equipment, and ammunition would be sent to Ukraine, as earlier announced.
Canada has provided military assistance of over C$1 billion ($730 million) to Ukraine since the start of the Russian military operation in the country.
