24-year-old Shudufhadzo Musida has emerged has Miss South Africa 2020.
She was declared winner of the 62nd annual pageant at a socially-distanced event that was televised and took place at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town recently.
The Limpopo beauty queen beat 15 other contestants to win the prestigious crown.
While reacting to her emergence as the new beauty queen of South Africa, she said: “I hope to achieve change. I want to be representative of the beauty, diversity, and resilience that exists in this country.
“I want every child from every village who looks at the TV and sees this moment to know it is possible for them. I didn’t think it was possible for me and now I am sitting here with a crown on my head. Your dreams are valid.”
Apart from the title of Miss SA, Musida will take home the sum of R1 million in cash from Miss South Africa Organisation and R2 million worth of sponsorships and prizes which include the using a luxury Sandton apartment and a Mercedes-Benz C200 Cabriolet.
Second placed Thato Mosehele, 25, will get R250k in cash, while second runner-up, Natasha Joubert, 23, will receive R100k.
For the first time in Miss South Africa pageant’s history, the trio will represent South Africa at the world’s top three prestigious pageants, Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational.
