Manchester United Football Club have extended Odion Ighalo’s loan til January 2021. The extension was confirmed through a statement by the club today.
Ighalo joined Manchester United on loan on January 2020 transfer deadline from Shanghai Shenhua. Since joining the club, he has netted four times in eight matches for the club. His exploits with Manchester United before matches were suspended due to Coronavirus crisis made United consider extending his loan.
Before United formally announced Ighalo’s contract extension, the club’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, hinted that the club would retain the striker’s services.
Solskjaer said: “They (Shanghai Shenhua) have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club
“It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us.”
Ighalo’s current deal at Shanghai Shenhua expires in December 2022.
He was earlier asked by the Chinese club to agree a contract that is worth £400k per week but Ighalo shunned money and chose glory in a bid to fulfil his dream of playing for Manchester United.
