Though Peel Regional Police have witnessed a slight decrease in car thefts, crimes of such continue to be chaotic in Brampton and Mississauga as over 500 incidents have been reported this past month.
In the last 31 days, Brampton and Mississauga have recorded an average of 18 or more motor thefts per day.
Between April 19 and May 20, Peel police data reveals that there was a combined 530 vehicle thefts reported across both cities. 246 in Brampton and 284 in Mississauga.
As of May 20, 11 of these incidents are considered solved while 501 were under investigation with 18 deemed unsolved.

422 of the stolen vehicles were automobiles (cars), 92 were trucks, 14 were motorcycles and 2 were simply listed as “others.”
According to Peel Regional Police data, the top 3 common hotspots for this kind of theft are Derry Road, Queen St and Kennedy Road.
Compared to what happened between April 19 and May 20, 2022, the vehicle theft count was put at 18 incidents for Brampton and Mississauga—which means that the rise in car theft cases could pose a fear among residents.
