No fewer than eighteen members of the Al-Shabab militia have been executed in Somalia after being sentenced to death for perpetrating series of suicide bombings which include killing of soldiers.
The convicts were executed recently in Galkayo town of Mudug, the Puntland State of Somalia.
The Chairperson of Puntland state court, Mohamud Abdi Mohamed, who approved the sentence, said the court proceedings went through a lot of stages before the execution.

He said: “Puntland State Court of Armed Forces executed 18 al-Shabab militants this morning. These convicts were all behind the killings of many of our important people here. The court took the right action against them.”
The execution was termed by Al-Shabab militants as a massacre of innocent civilians by Puntland State.
It should be recalled that the militant group has masterminded series of assassinations and bombings in Galkayo and other parts of the Mudug region, as such, Puntland officials vowed to bring any member of the terrorist group or those who engage in terrorist activities to justice.
